2012 Hybrid Stand Guarantee Policy
The RiceTec Hybrid Rice stand guarantee policy is designed to provide RiceTec seed customers replant seed in the event a customer does not get an adequate initial stand (as defined below) on his/her RiceTec hybrid rice acreage.
Eligibility and Limitations:
- Customer orders and receives seed from an authorized RiceTec Service Partner location in 2012.
- Customer plants during the recommended time period for the area (not before March 15th for the Gulf Coast and April 1st for the Mid-South) and follows RiceTec recommendations regarding:
- Planting rates
- Seedbed preparation
- Planting methods
- Flushing or fertilizing to enhance seed germination and stand establishment opportunities under difficult soil and/or environmental conditions.
- Customer allows inspection of any “concern” fields by RiceTec Technical Services Representative to assess plant stand prior to taking any action.
- Customer agrees that RiceTec will be the sole party to determine the adequacy of the existing plant stand. For stand concerns not related to seed quality but rather due to “Acts of God” e.g. flooding or water standing, RiceTec will offer for planting in 2012 replant seed (subject to availability) at no cost on 50% of the list purchase price at our recommended seeding rate as long as at the same time the other 50% of the replant acres are purchased at list purchase price at our recommended seeding rate.
- For stand concerns not related to seed quality but rather due to “Acts of God” e.g. flooding or water standing as determined by a RiceTec Technical Services Representative, RiceTec will offer for planting in 2012 replant seed (subject to availability) at no cost on 50% of those same replant acres at our recommended seeding rate as long as at the same time the other 50% of the replant acres are purchased at list purchase price at our recommended seeding rate.
- RiceTec hybrid rice stand concerns that are not drill-seeded and it is determined by RiceTec to be a seed quality issue will be offered replant seed at no cost on 50% of those replant acres at our recommended seeding rate as long as at the same time the other 50% of the replant acres are purchased at list purchase price at our recommended seeding rate.
- An additional requirement for eligibility of water-seeded RiceTec hybrid rice is that the seed is pre-soaked for a minimum of 24 hours and drained for a minimum of 24 hours before seeding.
- Tech Fee on CLEARFIELD acres that are offered for replant at 50% list purchase price will be determined on a case by case basis.
- When replant is determined to be necessary by RiceTec, only replant seed will be provided as a remedy. There will be no refunds or crediting of customer or Service Partner accounts.
- Replant seed will not be provided to customers with any past due unpaid seed balances.
- Replant seed will not be provided for fields with pre-existing field conditions, including but not limited to:
- Salt intrusion, Lack of water availability sufficient to flush/flood field
- RiceTec may make hybrid substitution for replant seed based upon seed availability. Customer must use current year tested and germ guaranteed seed to be eligible for replant.
Determination of plant stand
- Customer reports any stand concerns less than 3 plants per square foot promptly for each field to RiceTec Technical Services or the Service Partner for review of plant stands and uniformity.
- Initial plant stand per square foot is determined by randomly tossing a one square foot PVC square and counting emerged plants within the square.
- Counts are made after full emergence at 20 to 30 locations across the field, depending on field size.
Follow up
- Customer follows RiceTec replant recommendations if initial plant stand is determined to be inadequate.
- If, at the time of replant determination, it is determined to be a RiceTec seed quality issue, and unfeasible to replant rice in the field, RiceTec will provide seed for the following season to plant equivalent acres at our recommended seeding rate.
- To qualify for deferred replant the current/remaining hybrid rice crop must be destroyed and no rice can be planted in the field until next season.
- Customers who choose to replant hybrid fields without first being viewed by RiceTec personnel will forfeit the opportunity to receive replant seed at reduced or no costs at RiceTec’s discretion.
